The Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (AP TET 2024) is an annual exam for those interested in becoming teachers in various educational institutions under the control of the Andhra Pradesh State government. The Department of School Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh oversees the entire process for the Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (AP TET). The exam, scheduled for 2024, includes two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 is for those aspiring to teach Classes I to V, while Paper 2 is for candidates looking to teach Classes VI to VIII. Eligibility Criteria


To apply online for the APTET July Exam 2024, candidates must meet the educational qualification requirements. There is no age limit for applying for the AP TET Exam 2024. The minimum qualifications are specified for Paper-1A and Paper-1B for Classes I to V, as well as Paper-2A and Paper-2B for Classes VI to VIII, including Special Education Teachers.

For Primary Teacher Post/ Classes I to V (Paper – 1A)

  • Intermediate/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) (or)
  • Intermediate/Senior Secondary (or it’s equivalent) with at least 45% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition norms and procedure), Regulations, 2002 (Note: This will be applicable for the candidates who possess a qualification in between 2002 to 2011) (or)
  • Intermediate/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) (or)
  • Intermediate/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2 year Diploma in Education (Special Education) (or)
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and two-year diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)

For Upper Primary Teachers Post/ Classes I to V in Special Schools (Paper – 1 B)

  • Intermediate/ Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and Two year D.Ed. Special Education in any of the category of disability (or)
  • One year Diploma in Special Education (DSE) in any of the category of disability. (or)
  • Diploma in Community Based Rehabilitation (DCBR) with 06 months Certificate course in Education of Children with Special Needs. (or)
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Community Based Rehabilitation (PGDCBR) with 06 months Certificate course in Education of Children with Special Needs. (Or)
  • Diploma in Multi Rehabilitation Worker (MRW) with 06 months Certificate course in Education of Children with Special Needs. (Or)
  • Junior Diploma in Teaching the Deaf. (Or)
  • Primary level Teacher Training Course in Visual Impairment. (Or)
  • Diploma in Vocational Rehabilitation – Mental Retardation (DVR-MR) / Diploma in Vocational Training and Employment – Mental Retardation (DVTE-MR) with 06 months Certificate course in Education of Children with Special Needs. (Or)
  • Diploma in Hearing Language and Speech (DHLS) with 06 months Certificate course in Education of Children with Special Needs. (Or)
  • Intermediate/ Senior Secondary passed with any RCI recognized qualification of minimum one year duration and 06 months Certificate course in Education of Children with Special Needs. (Or)
  • Any other equivalent qualification approved by RCI.

For Mathematics/ Physical Science /Biological Science/Social Studies /Language Teacher Post/ Classes I to V (Paper – 2 B)

  • At least 50% marks either in Graduation (or) in Post-Graduation with Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).
  • (or)
  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and 1 year Bachelor of Education in accordance with the NCTE recognition norms and procedure Regulations issued from time to time in this regard. (or)
  • Intermediate/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed) (or)
  • Intermediate/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 year integrated B.A./B.Sc. or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed. (or)
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and 1 year B.Ed (Special Education) (or)
  • Post-Graduation with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade and three-year integrated B.Ed-M.Ed.

For Classes VI-VIII in Special Schools (Paper- 2B)

  • At least 50% marks either in Graduation (or) in Post-Graduation with
  • B.Ed.(Special Education) (Or)
  • B.Ed.(General) with one year Diploma in Special Education. (Or)
  • B.Ed. (General) with two years Diploma in Special Education. (Or)
  • B.Ed.(General) with Post Graduate Professional Diploma in Special Education (PGPD). (Or)
  • B.Ed. Special Education and Post Graduate Professional Certificate in Special Education (PGPC). (Or)
  • PG Diploma in Special Education (Mental Retardation). (Or)
  • PG Diploma in Special Education (Multiple Disability : Physical & Neurological). (Or)
  • PG Diploma in Special Education (Loco motor Impairment and Cerebral Palsy). (Or)
  • Secondary level Teacher Training Course in Visual Impairment. (Or).
  • Senior Diploma in Teaching the Deaf. (Or)
  • BA B.Ed. in Visual impairment. (Or)
  • Any other equivalent qualification approved by RCI

For  Language Teachers (Classes VI to VIII)

One must have completed their graduation with the language as an optional subject, or have a Bachelor's degree in Oriental Language or its equivalent, or have graduated in literature. Another option is to have a post-graduation in the specific language and also hold a Language Pandit Training Certificate or a B.Ed. with the language as one of the methodologies.

Application Fees


The fee for AP TET 2024 application submission and for the conduct of Computer Based Examination is Rs. 750/- for each paper. The fee is to be paid separately if applying for both papers. Candidates shall pay the fee through the online payment gateway before 16th July 2024.

AP TET Exam Pattern 2024


In the AP Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test, all questions will be multiple choice and a total of 150 questions will be asked, each worth 1 mark. There is no penalty for incorrect answers. The question paper will be in English and the Language-I chosen by the candidate, except for Sanskrit where the questions will be in Telugu followed by Sanskrit in Devanagari Script.

Minimum Qualifying Marks


To pass the AP TET Exam in 2024, candidates need to score at least 60% for General category, 50% for BC category, and 40% for SC/ST/Differently abled (PH) & Ex-servicemen category. Candidates who meet or exceed these qualifying marks will be considered qualified in the exam.

Steps to Apply


To apply for the APTET exam, go to the official website aptet.apcfss.in and click on the application form link. Pay the application fee and make sure to note down the 'Journal Number' received at AP ONLINE e-Seva.

Use this number along with the date of payment and date of birth to submit your application form online. Don't forget to upload a scanned image of your latest photograph following the specified dimensions.

After completing the steps of ticking the declaration and entering the verification code, pressing the 'Upload' button, filling in personal and educational details in the application form, and verifying them by pressing the 'Preview' button, you can submit your application by clicking on the 'Submit' button. If there are any mistakes, you can click on the ‘Edit’ button to correct them before submitting again.

Once you submit your AP TET application form online, you will receive a reference ID number that you should save for any future communication. Your application is only complete once you have this reference ID number.

After submitting the form, make sure to print a clear copy for your records, but there is no need to send it by mail to the AP TET office.
