Thomas Matthew Crooks, lived in Bethel Park, a small village not far from Butler. He gained attention after he shot at Trump during an outdoor rally near Pittsburgh. He had carefully chosen his spot on the rooftop of a nearby factory, around 130 yards from where the rally was taking place at Butler Farm Show grounds.



After just ten minutes into Trump's rally, gunshots were heard and chaos ensued. Secret Service agents quickly rushed to protect Trump, who was injured in the chaos. Despite being bloodied, Trump defiantly raised his fist and appeared to shout, “Fight!”

Secret Service agents swiftly intervened to ensure Trump's safety by moving him off the stage and into an SUV. Trump was then taken to the hospital for evaluation but was later discharged in good condition. He later used Truth Social to share his sympathies for the rally attendee who tragically lost their life in the shooting.
